Meatless Mondays: Mushroom Torta with Light Cream Sauce



Start your week right with this light yet creamy torta. Go ahead and try this recipe today!



Preparation Time: 40 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 8-10

Ingredients:
  • 1 large onion, minced
  • 4 cups mushrooms, minced
  • 1 cup prepared oatmeal
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • 3 pcs whole eggs
  • 2 pcs egg whites
  • 1 sachet 8g MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying

 For the sauce:
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
  • 1/3 cup NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream
  • 1/3 cup NESTLÉ Low Fat Milk
  • ¼ cup pechay tagalog strips
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
Procedure:
  1. Combine the onion, mushrooms, prepared oatmeal, parsley, and flour in a bowl.  
  2. Gradually add the eggs then season with MAGGI MAGIC SARAP and pepper.
  3. Make small patties from the mushroom mixture and pan fry the patties 3 – 4 minutes on each side.
  4. For the sauce, heat olive oil in a sauce pan.  Sauté the garlic until soft and translucent.  Stir in the flour and cook for 30 seconds.  Pour in water and season with MAGGI MAGIC SARAP.  Simmer then add in the NESTLÉ All Purpose Cream and NESTLÉ Low Fat Milk.  Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.  When sauce has thickened, add in the pechay tagalog strips.  Simmer for another 30 seconds then remove from heat and serve with the mushroom torta.
