Make Christmas even merrier this year with some new ways to share the love. Take your pick from these ideas – or better yet, try all of them!
Deck the neighborhood
Spread some holiday cheer among your neighbors by helping decorate each other's home. Meet up to find out what décor each home needs so you don't have to buy new ones; maybe you can swap or borrow decorations to save money. Then, team up when it's time to deck your homes. Share some décor ideas and personal stories, too, while you're at it.
Christmas cards to family
Bring back the lost art of letter writing by writing a heartfelt holiday message to each other in your family. Make it even more personal by writing it on handmade cards. Include your sincere wishes for each member of the family and a list of some things about him or her that you are so thankful for.
Charitable gifts
This year, why not give the less fortunate something new, like some of the many presents you receive – or, even better, actually buy them some of the things they really need? Doing so gives “paying it forward” a deeper meaning to kids. It becomes all about passing on the blessings you receive to those who have less.
Green Christmas
This holiday season, show Mother Earth some love by “greening” some of your practices like...
- Forgo disposable plates and utensils during parties and go for the reusable counterparts instead.
- Wrap your presents with pages from newspapers and old magazines. Jazz up the wrapping with your creativity!
- Light up your home with holiday décor that have LED lights, which are 90 percent more efficient than incandescent lights. That means less electric consumption (and more savings for you!).
