The spouses of Nestlé Philippines, Inc. (NPI) top
executives recently visited the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village in Bgy,
San Isidro, Lipa City which is sponsored by the company, to gain first-hand
insights for finalizing support programs which they will implement to serve
various needs of the community.
The spouses led by Mrs. Ying Miller, wife of NPI
Chairman and CEO Ying Miller, were met by GK Village President Jhay Juniosa,
after which they interacted freely with residents whose homes they visited. An
informal discussion was conducted on areas of involvement for Nestlé’s GK
initiatives, while the company’s then Lipa factory HR Head Eden Sagisi and HR
Employee Relations Specialist Rex Ferrer presented possible activities for
execution after the formal “turnover” of the GK Village to the factory. The
programs will seek to focus on livelihood, agriculture and environmental initiatives,
consistent with Nestlé’s corporate strategy of Creating Shared Value.
The group, which was accompanied by Ms. Ruth
Novales and Mr. David Laurel of Nestlé Corporate Affairs, will return to the GK
village with concrete program proposals based on a comprehensive needs analysis
with the assistance of the company’s Lipa factory HR team. Recently, village
residents received bicycle-powered sidecars known as “padyaks” for livelihood
purposes, build by sales force of Nestlé Philippines during its annual
team-building exercise and turned over to Gawad
Kalinga.
